Focus of research
Population pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling of antimicrobial drugs to answer the main research question "which individual dose will optimize drug exposure in blood and the site of infection to obtain favorable clinical outcome (cure of infection) with a low likelihood of side effects and risk for acquiring drug resistance".
Collaboration with the Molecular Biology and Microbial Food Safety research group of the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences of the University of Amsterdam (Prof. dr. Benno ter Kuile, PhD)
Collaboaration with the departement of Intensive Care Medicine (Prof. dr. J. Wauters) and the departement of Hospital Pharmacy (Prof. dr. I. Spriet) of the University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium
Clinical pharmacological research of clotting factors (prothrombin complex concentrate in patients with an acquired deficiency and factor VIII in heamophilia A patients) to answer the main research question "which dosing strategy will optimize clinical outcome (stop or prevent bleeding) with a low likelihood of side effects (thrombosis)".
Collaboration with the department of Haematology of the University Medical Center Groningen (Prof. dr. K. Meijer and dr. N. Khorsand) and collaboration with the department of Haematology of the Erasmus MC Rotterdam (Dr. M. Kruip)
