Joep Derikx, Professor of Pediatric Surgery at Amsterdam UMC, is not only passionate about the precise work required in children’s abdominal surgeries, but also about the power of teamwork. In his inaugural lecture, he emphasized how collaboration between doctors, nurses, parents, and even patients themselves can transform care.

Joep is affiliated with our research institute and shares his motivation for choosing pediatric surgery, the unique challenges of diagnosing and treating children, and the importance of teamwork in improving patient outcomes.
