Focus of research

Marlies Visser is an interdisciplinary public health researcher (postdoc) specialising in the social determinants of women’s and girls’ health, with a particular focus on menstrual health. Using qualitative and quantitative methods she aims to advance theory on the biopsychosocial factors shaping menstrual health and wellbeing, while addressing stigma and inequalities. Ultimately, I aim to foster supportive environments that improve knowledge and reduce stigma surrounding women’s health.

Marlies works in the Child and Adolescent Public health Research and Innovation Section at the Department of Public and Occupational Health at the Amsterdam UMC.
