The MS cohort study is part of the MS Center Amsterdam (MS Center Amsterdam) at Amsterdam UMC, where a multidisciplinary team of over 60 researchers investigate all aspects of MS.

The MS cohort study collects medical data and samples from a large group of people with MS and from people with diseases similar to MS. The cohort covers more than 20 years of data collection and originally included approximately 5,000 patients according to the Amsterdam Cohort Hub overview. Measurements include neurological tests, cognition tests, eye-movement tests, MRI scans, blood biomarkers and imaging of brain networks to study progression and underlying mechanisms of MS.
