    Five Amsterdam Neuroscience researchers awarded Vidi Grant Five talented researchers from Amsterdam Neuroscience have been awarded a Vidi grant from the Dutch Research Council (NWO). Congratulations to Elsmarieke van der Giessen, Elseline Hoekzema, Max Koppers, Anouk Schrantee and Jorien Treur. NWO has granted a maximum of 850.000 euros to the researchers.

    Generative AI use among APH Researchers: Key survey findings Generative AI (GenAI) can accelerate scientific breakthroughs but also poses potential risks to scientific quality if used irresponsibly. To better understand how researchers at Amsterdam Public Health (APH) are engaging with GenAI, the APH Scientific Quality Committee conducted an anonymous survey from November 2024 to January 2025. The survey explored current use, tools, training, support needs, and awareness of existing guidelines.
  • Transgender women do not have an increased risk of heart attack and stroke
    Transgender women do not have an increased risk of heart attack and stroke Contrary to previous research, transgender women who use the hormone oestradiol for their transition do not have an increased risk of heart attack and stroke compared to men in the general Dutch population. This is shown by a large-scale study from Amsterdam UMC, with data from more than 4,000 transgender individuals, published today in the European Heart Journal. The researchers suspect that the hormone treatment transgender women receive has a protective effect on the heart and blood vessels.
