Each year, the AGEM research institute organizes a seminar series focused on metabolism: the Tager Lectures. These lectures are named after Professor Joseph Tager, who made important contributions to Fabry, Pompe and Gaucher disease and had a major impact on our understanding of peroxisomal diseases. He was chairman of the Biochemistry Department at the University of Amsterdam (1980-1991).

Prof. Anthony Hollenberg

On Wednsday March 4th, the Tager seminar series will continue with a new lecture by Prof. Anthony Hollenberg, who is a renowned endocrinologist and physician-scientist and currently serves as the President of Boston Medical Center and Chief Physician Executive of Boston Medical Center Health System.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Calgary and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He went on to complete a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Prof. Hollenberg is widely recognized for his groundbreaking research on thyroid disorders. His laboratory focuses on thyroid gland development and thyroid hormone signaling utilizing mouse genetic and human stem cell technologies. He has received numerous awards, including the Van Meter and Sidney Ingbar Awards from the American Thyroid Association.
