Focus of research
My doctoral program is supervised by Prof. dr. Sicco A. Bus, Prof. dr. Mario Maas and dr. Jaap van Netten, and it is funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) of the European Union’s Europe 2022 research and innovation program.
The aim of my PhD is to advance our functional and anatomical understanding of diabetic foot disease in remission. To achieve this goal, we will use advanced imaging techniques to assess tissue changes in relation to mechanical stress under dynamic conditions. Histological, mechanical and morphological properties of skin and soft that contribute to foot ulcer healing and/or re-occurrence will then be determined.
