Focus of research

My research evolves around relevant societal and policy questions for responsible innovation in the field of Community Genetics, with a strong emphasis on valorization. Topics include: implementation of pharmacogenetics, responsible use of direct-to-consumer genetic testing, ethical and governance aspects of drug repurposing for rare diseases and roles and responsibilities in digital health.

I am:

  • an inquisitive researcher with a PhD in “Translating the dynamics of genetics into health care practice”, and experience in policy-informing studies;
  • skilled in implementation research, multi-stakeholder involvement, qualitative study design, motivational leadership, scientific writing, and teaching;
  • aiming to create impact by building bridges, stimulating knowledge exchange, and defining strategies for optimization and change in the field of Public Health Genomics;
  • secretary of the Dutch Association for Community Genetics and Public Health Genomics (NACGG); and
  • program leader of the Personalized Medicine program from the Amsterdam Public Health (APH) research institute.
