Helios, the High Performance Compute facility of the Amsterdam UMC, kick-off is coming up. Helios is intended for both research and diagnostics applications and
provides the latest CPU and GPU architectures for AI & big data workloads. All within
the confines of our hospital walls.
Helios opened in summer 2025 and we have since added many features and upgraded
systems to support your work. In addition, we put together the HPC support team, a
group of expert engineers to help in your journey on Helios.

Presentation of DRAGEN (Illumina) 21st of April at location VUmc (and online)
We are pleased to announce that on 21st of April, from 13:00 to 15:00, a team of Illumina representatives will give an introductory presentation about the possibilities of DRAGEN servers, which are now available on the Selene/Helios HPC platform.
DRAGEN servers are on-site systems that accelerate genomic analysis pipelines, including BCL conversion, mapping and alignment, sorting, duplicate marking, and haplotype-based variant detection. Pipelines are also available for scRNAseq, long read, and spatial transcriptomics data analysis.

Introduction meetings CFG at location AMC and VUmc
Every month there will be an introduction meeting at the CFG locations. New CFG users, but also routine users who like a fresh up or want to work at the other CFG location are welcome.
Topics during the meeting will be the services CFG offers, safety on the labs, use of machines and access to the labs. The meeting is an addition to on our laboratory regulations. These regulations you receive by email when registering at the CFG and can be found in K2.
