The topic of this webinar will be:

Illumina 5-base & TruPath: extended genomic insights through long fragments and methylation data

In this webinar, CFG will introduce two new assays from Illumina and share our initial experiences with these technologies:

  • 5-base Assay
     A single assay for comprehensive characterization of the 5-base genome (A, T, G, C, and 5mC), providing dual insights into both the whole genome and the methylome.
  • TruPath Genome
     Illumina TruPath Genome advances whole-genome sequencing (WGS) by combining the accuracy and accessibility of short-read sequencing with long-range information traditionally restricted to long-read platforms. TruPath Genome offers an ultra-simple workflow and enables access to challenging genomic regions, structural variants, and phased variant calls across the human genome.

Peter Henneman - Illumina 5-base Technology in Episignatures, Forensics, and Theragnostics Research

Peter Henneman (PI) leads a research group at the Clinical Genetics department of the Amsterdam UMC, focusing on epigenetics of complex and non-complex diseases. His main research interests are: (1) early developmental environmental factors and their epigenetic contribution to complex diseases such as food allergy, Type II diabetes and PTSD, (2) epigenetics in intervention and translational studies (including PTSD and Crohn's disease), and (3) clinical diagnostic applications of epigenetic signatures in rare syndromes through the international EpiSign collaboration.

Sjoerd Holwerda - TruPath Whole Genome Sequencing (tpWGS) in clinical genetics – in search of one generic diagnostic tool

Sjoerd Holwerda is a laboratory specialist in clinical genetics @ the UMC Utrecht. He holds a MSc in Systems biology (VU) and a PhD in epigenetics (Hubrecht Institute Utrecht). Before moving to the UMC Utrecht he worked on transcriptional regulatory mechanisms in the liver and brain at the FMI and Novartis in Basel, Switzerland. He focusses on oncological diagnostics and is interested in technical innovations to improve patient healthcare.

Introduction meetings CFG at location AMC and VUmc

Every month there will be an introduction meeting at the CFG locations. New CFG users, but also routine users who like a fresh up or want to work at the other CFG location are welcome. 

Topics during the meeting will be the services CFG offers, safety on the labs, use of machines and access to the labs. The meeting is an addition to on our laboratory regulations. These regulations you receive by email when registering at the CFG and can be found in K2.
