Vici Grant for Matthijs Brouwer: Faster, more Accurate, and Affordable Tests for Diagnosing Brain InfectionsWe are proud to announce that three Amsterdam UMC researchers, including two from AI&I, have each been awarded a prestigious €1.5 million Vici grant from the Dutch Research Council (NWO). This funding will enable them to develop innovative research lines and expand their teams over the next five years. In this article, we highlight the work of Prof. Matthijs Brouwer, who received the Vici grant for his groundbreaking research on improving the diagnosis of brain infections.
Stress reshapes brain circuits to drive overeatingA team of researchers including postdoctoral researcher Laura Supiot and Danai Riga has uncovered how stress can drive overeating by reshaping a specific brain circuit. Their study identifies a complex neural network that is essential for stress-induced eating, providing new insights into the brain mechanisms linking stress and food intake. The findings have been published in Nature Communications.
