Our mission
ACH brings together diverse cohort studies, 25 in total and counting. Our cohorts represent the rich demographic reality of Amsterdam, from children and families to older adults and high-risk groups. By capturing demographic, cultural, and socioeconomic factors, ACH data enables deeper insights into public health challenges and solutions.
Our mission is to connect data and expertise to improve public health. By building one infrastructure and shared procedures, we make cohort research more efficient, and more impactful. ACH supports researchers with practical tools, expert guidance, and a unified approach to data access, governance, and FAIR data stewardship.
We don’t just support cohort research, we help make it more effective and future-proof.
ACH is part of Cohorten Hubs Nederland (CHN), collaborating with other UMCs and partners such as Health-RI and the Netherlands Cohorts Consortium.

Roadmap 2026
The Roadmap 2026 outlines the next phase in the development of the Amsterdam Cohort Hub (ACH). It builds on the foundations laid in 2024–2025 and sets a clear direction toward a sustainable, collaborative, and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data infrastructure across population-based and patient cohorts. As of 2026, ACH will be administratively and physically embedded as group within the Department of Epidemiology and Data Science of Amsterdam UMC.
The ACH Roadmap 2026 translates ACH’s mission, ‘Connecting data, improving health’, into concrete priorities and actions for 2026. It focuses on expanding our cohort support functions, improving data accessibility and reuse, strengthening our network, and deepening collaboration within Amsterdam UMC and with external partners. As before, the roadmap is a living document: it evolves with our collective insights, experiences, and ambitions.

Participating Studies
Cohort studies teaming up under the ACH umbrella
ACH unites a wide range of health-related cohort studies that collect data from citizens and patients in Amsterdam and beyond. Each study has its own unique focus and strengths, contributing to a shared resource for public health research.
See all ACH cohorts on our ACH cohort webpage.
Partnerships
We collaborate with national and international initiatives to align data standards and share best practices, including Nederlandse Cohorten Hubs (NCH), Nederlands Cohort Consortium (NCC), Health-RI, Cohort and Biobank Coordination Hub (CBCH, and Closer. These partnerships help broaden the reach and impact of Amsterdam’s cohort research.
