The Amsterdam Young Academy (AYA), an initiative of both VU (Vrije Universiteit) and UvA (Universiteit van Amsterdam), has just released the thought-provoking book "Fixing Academia". This collection of essays reflects on the current state of academia in the Netherlands, addressing the challenges faced by researchers and proposing solutions for creating a more inclusive and sustainable academic environment.

The book features contributions from a range of distinguished Amsterdam-based researchers, including Callista Mulder, Assistant Professor of Reproductive Biology at Amsterdam UMC and AR&D affiliate. In her chapter, Callista shares her personal reflections on the complex intersection of parenthood and academia, exploring both the challenges and potential solutions when balancing academic work with family life.
