The Dutch Research Council (NWO) has awarded a Veni grant worth up to 250,000 euros to 161 highly promising young scientists. The grant provides the recipients with the opportunity to further elaborate their own ideas during a period of three years.
Cancer Center Amsterdam researcher Felipe Vieira Braga received a Veni award for his research project 'Good cop, bad cop: the role of regulatory T-cells in colorectal cancer development and treatment'
A short project description:
The moment cancer cells move into a new neighborhood (metastasis), things start to go wrong. Neighbors usually contact the police (immune cells) to get rid of the cancer cells. I will study how immune cells evict cancer cells from their neighborhood.
