General
Dear ACS talents (PhD students, postdocs, junior PIs),
This upcoming ACS Career Development event will focus on:
Connecting researchers through their resources
Goal : The meeting will provide an opportunity to find out who in our institute can help you with specific materials, datasets, expertise, etc. to improve your research.
Format: each participant will get 2 minutes to present, using 2 ppt slides max. After presenting, anyone from the audience that is interested to connect can make that known right away, or approach the speaker during the drinks after the presentations.
Slide 1: (i) Who are you and what is your topic (keep it short!) and (ii) whatdo you offer to share?
This could be resources (readily available) such as:
- A patient cohort or biobank (e.g. "I have a cohort of urine samples from patients with disease X.")
- Omics datasets ((sc)RNA-seq, proteomics, metabolomics, etc.)
- Cell or animal models
- Analysis pipelines or computational methods
- Technical expertise or infrastructure
- Etc.
Note: The emphasis is on resources, not on presenting a research project.
Slide 2: What do you need?
For example:
- A validation cohort of patients with disease X
- A cell or animal model comparing young and aged
- A collaborator with expertise in spatial transcriptomics or metabolomics
- Access to a particular tissue, disease cohort, or public dataset
- Expertise in advanced 3D models of CVD
- Etc.
Importantly, the "need" doesn't have to be related to the "offer". This meeting is primarily an opportunity for participants to connect.
In addition, you can also present just 1 slide, for example if you don’t have anything on “offer” (yet), but you do “need” a specific resource. Finally, include your contact info on your slides.
Important: Send your 1-2 slides to ACS (acs@amsterdamumc.nl) before October 8, 2026
All slides will also be made available afterwards to the ACS community.
We hope that all of you will join and make this ACS Career Development event a big success!
