Focus of research
Fleur Tjong, MD PhD, is a cardiologist and Assistant Professor in Digital Cardiology and Artificial Intelligence at Amsterdam UMC, where she leads the Tjong Lab. Her research combines clinical electrophysiology with AI to improve the prediction and monitoring of cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. Her group develops multimodal models using ECG, cardiac imaging, electronic health records, genetics and wearable data, with a strong focus on dynamic risk prediction, external validation and trustworthy clinical use. She leads research programmes including RESCUE.AI and works closely with clinicians, engineers, data scientists and patients. Tjong is also a Visiting Scholar at Stanford School of Medicine and Scientific Chair at IHU LIRYC in Bordeaux. Within the European Society of Cardiology, she chairs the Education group of the ESC AI Gateway, serves on the ESC Education Committee, leads the Digital Cardiology and AI Curriculum Task Force, and co-chairs the EHRA Digital and AI Committee.
