Rob Wolthuis and Job de Lange published an article in Nature communication. They discovered that a mutation in the DDX11 gene, besides causing the rare heritable disease 'Warsaw Breakage Syndrome', renders cells very susceptible for spontaneous DNA damage and PARP inhibitors

The relevance of these findings for the onset of cancer and for cancer therapy with PARP inhibitors will be further investigated.
