Graag willen we jullie op de hoogte stellen van enkele belangrijke veranderingen met betrekking tot de BROK® cursus binnen ons UMC. De afgelopen periode is de BROK® commissie bezig geweest met de ontwikkeling van een nieuwe, toekomstbestendige BROK® cursus. Het nieuwe e-learningdeel (eBROK®) wordt ontwikkeld door GCP central. Adaptief leren, waarbij aangeboden leerstof zich afstemt op het niveau en ervaring van de cursist, staat in deze nieuwe BROK® cursus centraal.

Toekomstbestendige BROK® cursus

De nieuwe cursus zal niet langer worden afgesloten met een formeel extern examen. In plaats daarvan zal je kennis tijdens de cursus online worden getoetst op verschillende momenten. De cursus bestaat uit een basis gedeelte, gevolgd door een toets binnen de cursus. Als deze toets succesvol is afgerond moet er een verdiepingsmodule naar keuze (o.a. geneesmiddelen of medische hulpmiddelen) gevolgd worden. Ook deze wordt weer afgerond met een toets. De Centrum Specifieke Bijeenkomst (CSB) moet daarnaast afgerond worden volgens UMC-procedures. Na afronding ontvang je, net als voorheen, je BROK® certificaat, waarop ook zal staan welke verdiepingsmodule je hebt gevolgd. Dit wordt ook opgenomen in het BROK® register.

Na het behalen van het BROK® certificaat blijft je kennis op peil door middel van een zogenoemde Power App. Deze webapp biedt kleine stukjes inhoud aan. De verschillende werkvormen zorgen voor een gevarieerde, dynamische en interessante leerervaring. Door het regelmatig doornemen van deze kleine stukjes inhoud, blijft je BROK® certificaat altijd up-to-date. Zelfs als je een overvolle agenda hebt, kun je nog steeds leren met de Power App dankzij de korte interacties.

Afronding huidige BROK® cursus

De livegang van de nieuwe BROK® cursus is op 1 september 2024. Vanaf dat moment is het niet meer mogelijk om in te schrijven bij de huidige BROK® cursus. Tot 31 december 2024 is de leeromgeving van de huidige BROK® cursus nog beschikbaar en kun je dus je BROK® cursus daar nog afronden als je deze hebt aangeschaft vóór 1 september 2024. Een laatste online BROK® examen zal plaats vinden op 10 december 2024. Let op: mocht je naar aanleiding van je examens nog bezwaar in willen dienen, kan dat uiterlijk tot 17 december 2024. Daarna kunnen bezwaren niet meer in behandeling worden genomen! Een laatste Centrum Specifieke Bijeenkomst vindt plaats op 22 oktober 2024. We adviseren de cursisten in de huidige BROK® cursus om de BROK® cursus zo snel mogelijk af te ronden.

Veelgestelde vragen

Kan ik nog steeds de huidige BROK® cursus aanschaffen na de lancering van de nieuwe cursus op 1 september 2024?

Nee, na de lancering van de nieuwe cursus zal het niet meer mogelijk zijn om de huidige BROK® cursus aan te schaffen. De huidige BROK® cursus blijft echter wel beschikbaar tot 31 december 2024 voor cursisten die de cursus reeds hebben aangeschaft. Het enige product dat je nog in de oude omgeving kunt aanschaffen van 1 september tot 1 december 2024 is een herexamen voor de BROK®.

Wat gebeurt er na de lancering van de nieuwe cursus met de huidige cursisten?

Na de lancering van de nieuwe cursus hebben cursisten die de oude cursus hebben aangeschaft toegang tot de huidige cursusomgeving tot 31 december 2024. Ze kunnen binnen de 'oude' omgeving ook nog examen of herexamen doen tot en met het laatste examen op 10 december 2024. Let op: alles moet voor 31 december 2024 worden afgerond om nog via de huidige (oude) omgeving de BROK® af te ronden. Dat geldt voor de eLearning (modules op 100% en nieuwsberichten gelezen), CSB compleet afgerond en het examen moet gehaald zijn op uiterlijk 10 december 2024. Mocht dat niet lukken, moet je opnieuw beginnen in de nieuwe BROK®.

Is de structuur van de nieuwe cursus te vergelijken met de oude cursus?

Nee, de structuur van de nieuwe cursus zal anders zijn dan die van de oude cursus. De nieuwe cursus zal bovendien niet worden afgerond met een formeel extern examen, maar omvat een toets binnen de BROK® omgeving die gedaan kan worden zonder extra kosten.

Kan ik mijn voortgang van de oude cursus overdragen naar de nieuwe cursus?

Nee, voortgang binnen de cursus wordt niet meegenomen als je ervoor kiest toegang te krijgen tot de nieuwe cursusomgeving.

Wat gebeurt er als ik de oude cursus heb afgerond en het examen heb behaald?

Als je de oude cursus hebt afgerond en het examen hebt behaald, blijft je certificering 3 jaar geldig.

Kan ik ervoor kiezen om over te gaan naar de nieuwe BROK® cursus als ik de oude BROK® cursus nog niet heb afgerond?

Ja, cursisten die al een cursus hebben aangeschaft kunnen kiezen of ze hun cursus, met examen, willen afronden in de oude omgeving (laatste mogelijkheid op 10 december 2024) of dat ze verder willen in de nieuwe omgeving zonder examen, mits hun aangekochte product nog niet verlopen is. Dit geldt enkel voor de gehele BROK®, niet de herregistratie module.

De voortgang in de oude cursus wordt niet meegenomen naar de nieuwe cursus. Je begint dus opnieuw, maar je hoeft geen formeel BROK® examen af te leggen. Meer informatie over de wijze waarop deze toegang aangevraagd kan worden volgt nog. Let op: het later afronden van de BROK® cursus in de nieuwe omgeving is natuurlijk alleen een optie als je bijvoorbeeld nog niet gestart bent met je onderzoek (de eisen die er zijn in de UMC’s rondom BROK® certificering blijven gewoon van kracht)

Ik heb een verlopen BROK® certificaat. Is het handiger om te wachten op de nieuwe cursus of moet ik nog beginnen met de oude BROK® cursus?

Als het BROK® certificaat is verlopen zou je kunnen overwegen om te wachten op de nieuwe BROK® cursus. Echter is het belangrijk om na te gaan of het voor jouw werkzaamheden mogelijk is om voor een periode niet BROK® gecertificeerd te zijn. De eisen rondom BROK® certificering in de UMC’s blijven gewoon van kracht. Als dit geen optie is dan adviseren we je om zo snel mogelijk het BROK® examen af te leggen of de herregistratie af te ronden. BROK® examens kunnen tot uiterlijk 10 december 2024 worden gevolgd.

Mijn BROK® certificaat verloopt bijna. Is het handiger om te wachten op de nieuwe cursus of moet ik nog beginnen met de oude BROK® cursus?

Als het BROK® certificaat verloopt vóór 1 september 2024 dan adviseren we om zo snel mogelijk de herregistratie module te volgen in de huidige BROK® omgeving. Verloopt het BROK® certificaat na 1 september 2024, dan kan je instromen in de PowerApp van GCP-central. Deze PowerApp zal de huidige herregistratie vervangen.

Hoe kan ik inloggen in de nieuwe BROK® omgeving?

Er is nog geen webpagina ingericht voor de nieuwe BROK® cursus. Er volgt zo snel mogelijk een bericht waar cursisten zich kunnen aanmelden voor de nieuwe BROK® cursus. Houd hiervoor deze NFU-website in de gaten.

Development and Launch of a new BROK® course by GCP central

We would like to inform you about some important changes regarding the BROK® course within our UMC. Over the past period, the BROK® committee has been working on the development of a new, future proof BROK® course. The new e-learning component (eBROK®) is being developed by GCP central. Adaptive learning, where the offered material adjusts to the level and experience of the learner, is central to this new BROK® course.

Future-Proof BROK® course

The new course will no longer conclude with a formal external exam. Instead, your knowledge will be assessed online at various points during the course. The course consists of a basic part, followed by an in-course assessment. Upon successful completion of this assessment, a choice of in-depth module (e.g., medicinal products or medical devices) must be taken. This module is also concluded with an assessment. The centre specific meeting (CSB) must also be completed according to UMC procedures. Upon completion, you will receive, as before, your BROK® certificate, which will indicate which in-depth module you have completed. This will also be recorded in the BROK® register.

After obtaining the BROK® certificate, your knowledge will be maintained through a so-called PowerApp. This web app offers small pieces of content. The various formats provide a varied, dynamic, and interesting learning experience. By regularly reviewing these small pieces of content, your BROK®certificate will always remain up to date. Even with a busy schedule, you can still learn with the PowerApp thanks to its short interactions.

Completion of current BROK® course

The launch of the new BROK® course is scheduled for September 1, 2024. From that moment on, it will no longer be possible to enrol in the current BROK®course. The learning environment of the current BROK® course remains available until December 31, 2024, allowing you to complete your BROK® course if you purchased it before September 1, 2024. A final online BROK® exam will take place on December 10, 2024. Please note: if you wish to file an objection based on your exams, this can be done until December 17, 2024, at the latest. After that, objections will no longer be accepted! A final Centre Specific Meeting will take place on 22 oktober 2024. We advise current BROK® course participants to complete the BROK® course as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still purchase the current BROK® course after the launch of the new course on September 1, 2024?

No, after the launch of the new course, it will no longer be possible to purchase the current BROK® course. However, the current BROK® course will remain available until December 31, 2024, for participants who have already purchased it. The only product you can still purchase in the old environment from September 1 to December 1, 2024, is a re-examination for the BROK®.

What happens to current participants after the launch of the new course?

After the launch of the new course, participants who have purchased the old course will have access to the current course environment until December 31, 2024. They can still take exams or re-exams within the 'old' environment until the last exam on December 10, 2024. Please note: everything must be completed by December 31, 2024, to complete the BROK® via the current (old) environment. This applies to eLearning (modules at 100% and news articles read), completion of CSB, and passing the exam by December 10, 2024. If this is not possible, you will need to start over in the new BROK®.

Is the structure of the new course comparable to the old course?

No, the structure of the new course will be different from that of the old course. Additionally, the new course will not conclude with a formal external exam but will include an assessment within the BROK® environment that can be taken at no extra cost.

Can I transfer my progress from the old course to the new course?

No, progress within the course will not be transferred if you choose to access the new course environment.

What happens if I complete the old course and pass the exam?

If you complete the old course and pass the exam, your certification will remain valid for 3 years.

Can I choose to switch to the new BROK® course if I have not yet completed the old BROK® course?

Yes, participants who have already purchased a course can choose whether they want to complete their course, with an exam, in the old environment (last opportunity on December 10, 2024) or if they want to continue in the new environment without an exam, provided their purchased product has not expired. This applies only to the entire BROK®, not the re-registration module.

Progress in the old course will not be transferred to the new course. So, you start over, but you do not have to take a formal BROK® exam. More information on how to request access will follow. Please note: completing the BROK® course in the new environment later is only an option if, for example, you have not yet started your research (the requirements regarding BROK® certification in the UMCs remain in force).

My BROK® certificate is expired. Is it better to wait for the new course, or should I start the old BROK® course?

If the BROK® certificate expires before September 1, 2024, we advise you to complete the re-registration module in the current BROK® environment as soon as possible. If your BROK® certificate expires after September 1, 2024, you can enrol in the GCP-central PowerApp. This PowerApp will replace the current re-registration.

My BROK® certificate is expiring soon. Is it better to wait for the new course, or should I start the old BROK® course?

If your BROK® certificate is expiring before September 1, 2024, we recommend completing the re-registration module in the current BROK® environment as soon as possible. If your BROK® certificate expires after September 1, 2024, you can enrol in the GCP-central PowerApp. This PowerApp will replace the current re-registration.

How can I log in to the new BROK® environment?

There is currently no webpage set up for the new BROK® course. A message will follow as soon as possible with instructions on where participants can sign up for the new BROK® course. Keep an eye on the NFU website for more information.
