With the grant, they will investigate whether mitochondrial dysfunction in vessel wall cells is a shared mechanism across genetic forms of thoracic aortic aneurysm, and how it might be reversed.

That is the conclusion of a randomized controlled-feeding trial published in Cell Metabolism. Diet quality did improve cholesterol, but only once participants lost weight did inflammation drop by a quarter.
