All AMS members and other interested parties are warmly invited to join the webinar on AI in the Movement Sciences, hosted by dr. Stephan van der Zwaard and dr. Marike van der Leeden.

We are pleased to invite you to an informative webinar exploring the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and data science in both movement sciences and recovery after oncological surgeries. This webinar is intended for researchers and professionals in healthcare, sports sciences, and anyone interested in the practical applications of AI and data science in these fields. Our goal is to provide you with insights into the latest developments and how these technologies can contribute to improving performance, preventing injuries, and optimizing recovery processes post-surgery.

The Role of AI and Data Science in Movement Sciences

In the first session, we will provide an overview of the applications of AI and data science in movement sciences and sports. You will learn how these technologies are transforming training methods, enhancing sports performance, and aiding in injury prevention. This session will highlight the potential benefits for both elite athletes and amateurs, as well as anyone looking to improve their physical fitness.

AI in Physical Functioning recovery post-surgery

The second session focuses on AI's role in predicting and enhancing recovery after oncological surgeries, specifically for gastrointestinal (GI) and lung cancer. In 2023, the Netherlands recorded 23,500 GI cancer and 15,500 lung cancer cases. Surgery, crucial for a cure, significantly impacts physical functioning. Over 50% of older patients and 76% of lung cancer patients do not regain their original physical condition six months post-surgery.

This project uses data from the OPRAH RCT to develop predictive models forecasting the recovery curve of physical functioning post-surgery. The session will cover data flows, data processing, and model development. Additionally, we will discuss how these models can improve rehabilitation outcomes and personalized care, enabling faster and more efficient patient recovery.

We look forward to welcoming you to this webinar and exploring the possibilities that AI and data science offer in these crucial areas of healthcare and sports sciences.
