General

The APH Global Health program is organizing a symposium called: 'Making healthy choices possible: Enabling environments for adolescent diet and physical activity – What to implement and how' on November 10, 2026.

Adolescence is a critical period for establishing lifelong health behaviours, yet the environments surrounding adolescents — families, schools, communities, and the food and built environments they navigate — often make unhealthy choices the easy choices. There is growing evidence on which enabling-environment interventions can improve adolescent diet and physical activity, but important questions remain about what to prioritize and how to implement these interventions effectively across different settings and contexts. This symposium aims to summarize and discuss this evidence, bringing together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers — with speakers from the Netherlands, Ghana, and Kenya — to explore what to implement and how, and to open up the conversation on future collaboration and funding opportunities.

The symposium is open to anyone with an interest in this topic.
