Approximately 15% of people are neurodivergent: they have autism, ADHD, or other conditions. This is associated with different behavior and brain functioning. These conditions often occur together. To better understand and support neurodivergence, lived experience is essential.

In 2013, together with people with lived experience, the Netherlands Autism Register (NAR) was established, which now includes 6,800 participants. This model has been expanded with 'In Kaart' cohorts for ADHD, dyslexia, and other conditions, already involving over 1,000 participants.

The data from these cohorts are combined with other data sources, such as the Netherlands Twin Register, Generations2, and cohorts from the Amsterdam Cohort Hub. We help them apply lived experience knowledge. The goal is to co-create, together with people with lived experience, a safe and sustainable IT infrastructure in which knowledge about neurodivergence is cost-effectively collected, shared, and optimally used for society, science, healthcare, education, and policy.

You can find more information on the NAR website (in Dutch).
