Ten years after his death, Professor Joep Lange posthumously received the Amsterdam Dinner Award, accepted by his son Max and daughter Martha. Lange, a professor of infectious diseases at Amsterdam UMC, was honored for his groundbreaking research on HIV and AIDS spanning decades. He tragically lost his life on July 17, 2014, in the MH17 disaster, along with his partner Jacqueline van Tongeren, when their plane was shot down over Ukraine.
