The central Research Policy Office (RPO) is responsible for the preparation, coordination and implementation of research policy in relation to the mission and ambitions of the research strategy of Amsterdam UMC.
RPO has four policy advisors, who all have a background in research: Anne-Lieke van Deijk, Fenneke Blom, Hannerieke van der Boom and Raiza Hasrat, with Jessika van Kammen, director of Research Support, as their lead. Their task is to translate external, societal and internal developments into strategic and tactical research policy advice, with the aim of contributing to an environment in which science and scientists can flourish. In this way, together with the other domains of Amsterdam UMC Research Support, the RPO team contributes to offering optimal support to researchers
The Research Policy Office supports several committees of Amsterdam UMC:
The Amsterdam Research Board (ARB) is the advisory body of the Amsterdam UMC Executive Board of directors on research. Each of the ARB members are portfolio holders of specific research policy topics. The vice-Dean research is chair to the ARB and Anne-Lieke van Deijk (RPO) is secretary to the ARB.
The Committee for Talent and Appointments (CTA) has been assigned by the Executive Board to shape the talent policies of scientific staff and provides advice to the Deans on the appointment of midcareer and toplevel academics and on the implementation of Recognition and Rewards (R&R), striving for diversification of career paths and a broader evaluation of academic staff. The CTA is supported by a staff member of HR and Hannerieke van der Boom (RPO).
Furthermore, RPO supports the Amsterdam UMC Fellowship/Tenure Track committee, that awards one 5-year Amsterdam UMC Fellowship per year (supported by Fenneke Blom (2023 round)/Raiza Hasrat (2024 round)), and evaluates Tenure Tracks (supported by Hannerieke van der Boom).
The Taskforce Research Integrity (RI), consisting of the RI portfolio holders of the ARB and augmented with experts in the field, is supported by Fenneke Blom.
