The Amsterdam Research Board (ARB) is the advisory body to the Board of Directors on all aspects of the research policy of Amsterdam UMC. The ARB represents the Amsterdam UMC research community and is chaired by the vice-dean of Research.
The ARB is responsible for developing the strategic research policy and provides solicited and unsolicited advice to the Board of Directors on this policy. The ARB represents the Amsterdam UMC research community and consists of the directors of the eight research institutes, a selected number of independent researchers and members due to their specific research-related function. The ARB is chaired by the vice-dean of research Elga de Vries. In addition, the deans and the ARB agenda members (the vice-dean of Valorisation and the chairs of the Amsterdam UMC PhD association ASAP and the Postdoc Network) take part in the monthly ARB meetings.
ARB portfolios
Within the ARB, strategic research themes are divided across 12 portfolios. Each portfolio has two portfolio holders. They are responsible for monitoring and stimulating developments within a specific strategic research theme.
